Through tonight: Pleasant this evening and tonight as mainly clear skies persist. Lows should group in the upper 40s to mid-50s. Winds should be quite light while blowing from the north.

Weekend rain: Following what seemed like never-ending sunny weekends through the summer, more recently they have been plagued by precipitation. This one should be no different. About a half inch to an inch seems a good bet, with the most toward the northeast.

In a somewhat winterlike storm track, most of the rain falls Saturday as low pressure works this way from the west. Eventually, thanks in part to a blocking pattern at high latitudes that favors northeast coastal lows, the storm transfers offshore by Sunday morning. While this could be cause for significant excitement in a few months when colder air is around and snow might be in the cards, it’s probably too late to add a whole lot more rain here at this time.
