Earnings flurry

       Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd and Petronas Gas Bhd are expected to announce their third quarter (Q3) financial results today.

       Other companies expected to announce their earnings included Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, LBS Bina Group Bhd, S P Setia Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd and Axiata Group Bhd.

       Meanwhile, the Statistics Department will release the consumer price index (CPI) on Friday and the leading index on Thursday.Bloomberg estimates inflation to accelerate to 2.9% year-on-year (y-o-y) in October from 2.2% y-o-y in September.

       Singapore inflation, GDP

       SINGAPORE will release the final print for the Q3 gross domestic product (GDP) on Wednesday and CPI on Tuesday.

       Bloomberg estimates inflation to expand 2.9% y-o-y from 2.5% y-o-y in September and core inflation to grow 1.4% y-o-y from 1.2% in September.

       UOB Global Economics & Markets Research expects Q3 GDP growth to be unchanged from the advance estimate of 6.5% y-o-y, similar to the Bloomberg polls.

       Fed FOMC minutes

       MEETING minutes from the November Federal Open Market Committee, where tapering of asset purchases was announced, will be released on Nov 25.

       According to the IHS Markit, the minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee may prove useful in deciphering the mix of the members’ thoughts on how the Fed’s goals are moving along.

       A slew of data including the second estimate of Q3 GDP and October core personal consumption expenditures figures will be due this week.

       It will be a short week for the US financial markets which will be closed for the US Thanksgiving holiday.
