The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are to attend the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, bringing their two children to Britain.

       Prince Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will fly to the UK for part of the Jubilee weekend, to join "family events" in honour of the Queen.

       A spokesman said: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are excited and honoured to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children.”

       The Duke and Duchess are not invited to the Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping the Colour on the first day of the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

       The Queen decided to restrict the guest list to members of the family who carry out official duties on her behalf.

       But they will attend other events, which could include a national service of thanksgiving for the Queen at St Paul's Cathedral, although the two children - aged three and one - will be considered too young to attend.

       The Duke recently said he would like to bring his children to visit the Queen, with Archie meeting her only as a small baby. Lilibet, named for Her Majesty's childhood nickname, has never met her.

       In April, during an interview on US breakfast television, he was asked if he was attending and replied: "I don't know yet. There's lots of things, security issues and everything else.

       “So this is what I'm trying to do, trying to make it possible that I can get my kids to meet her [the Queen].”

       The Duke is currently in a legal battle with the Home Office, arguing that he requires tighter security arrangements in order to be safe in the UK.

       He is also due to play in a polo tournament in Santa Barbara which runs over the Jubilee weekend.

       The Duke and Duchess made a brief visit to see the Queen at Windsor Castle on their way to the Invictus Games last month.
