Meghan and Harry's PR team 'can't sit back' as they need to keep Sussexes in limelight

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's PR team have still got to "come up with stories" to keep the Sussex couple in the spotlight whilst they take time off to take care of their young children. Royal biographer Angela Levin said the couple's recent environmental award was a "combination" of both the Sussexes and the charity's desire for publicity.

Angela Levin told talkRadio, "We have to remember that there is team of twelve people, Harry and Meghan have said they’re not going to do anything for months because thye’re going to look after their little girl."

"But these twelve are obviously not allowed to sit back and have a break."

"They’ve got to come up with stories that will put them on the front pages or at least in the papers, so I think it’s a combination of both."

Host Mike Graham said, "My sense of this story is that the charity quite fancied the idea of getting some publicity for themselves and said I know, we'll give these two an award and it will be all over the world and someone will have heard of us."

The couple have been named as the recipients of an environmental award from the charity Population Matters, for their decision to only have two children.

The UK-based charity campaigns for a sustainable human population and a healthier planet.

In a statement, they said "In choosing and publicly declaring their intention to limit their family to two, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are helping to ensure a better future for their children and providing a role model for other families."

"We commend the Duke and Duchess for taking this enlightened decision, and for affirming that a smaller family is also a happy family.”

The charity also credited the Duke and Duchess for being "amazing role models" and world influencers.

As their award, the couple have been given £500 to donate to a charity of their choosing.

Prince Harry has often spoken about climate change, and during his interview with Oprah on the Apple TV+ series 'The Me You Can't See' said it was one of the two most pressing issues facing our planet.

He also said in a 2019 Vogue interview that "This place is borrowed" and we must protect the planet for future generations.

Both he and Meghan have said they were going to have "maximum" two children.

After welcoming their firstborn in London on May 6, 2019, the Duke and Duchess suffered heartbreak when Meghan's second pregnancy ended in a miscarriage last summer.

The couple welcomed their second child on June 4, 2021 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Their baby daughter, Lilibet "Lili" Diana, has now joined her older brother Archie Harrison at their family home in Montecito, California.
