D.C. police said that at least one member of the U.S. Marshals Service fired a gun Thursday morning while trying to apprehend a person in Southeast Washington.
Police said a person was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but it could not immediately be determined whether the injuries were due to gunfire or a vehicle crash that occurred during the incident.

The incident, including a large police presence, happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Good Hope Road SE, in the Anacostia area.
Officials have not publicly identified the person who was injured or provided additional details.
