KUALA LUMPUR: Ocean Vantage Holdings Bhd's wholly owned subsidiary Ocean Vantage Engineering Sdn Bhd has clinched a RM71.3mil contract to provide civil, building and piling works for a new onshore gas plant owned by Petroliam Nasional Bhd known as Gas Sales Facilities 2 at Bintulu, Sarawak or BAGSF-2.
The contract was awarded by Petrofac Engineering Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the main contractor of the gas plant.
According to Ocean Vantage, the temporary site facilities works are expected to be completed by June 2, 2022, while the civil, building and piling works are slated to finish by April 30, 2023.
"“We are very honoured to be selected by Petrofac Malaysia to participate in this large-scale gas plant in Bintulu that has capacity of 390 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) upon completion," said Ocean Vantage executive director Stephen Yau Kah Tak in a statement.
He noted that the contract is a breakthrough for the company into the downstream oil and gas segment, as it strives towards a more balanced exposure in both upstream and downstream segments.
Yau said amid the oil and gas activity in Sarawak and Bintulu, he is confident of securing more more jobs in the near future.
