       KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14: The director of the “Afia” project, Dr Adnan Al-Rasheed, confirmed the continued provision of health insurance services to retired citizens, noting that nearly 150 thousand Afia cards have been distributed to retirees, reports Al-Anba daily. In a statement to the daily, Al- Rasheed stated that the beneficiaries of wellness services are retired citizens registered with the Public Institute for Social Security, pointing out that there is an automatic link between the Ministry of Health and Institute to obtain and update the data of retirees to facilitate the issuance of wellness cards to them. He pointed out that the law to provide health insurance services to retirees is a favor to this category of citizens to enable them to obtain healthcare in the private sector according to a wide medical system and network, whether in hospitals, specialized centers or dispensaries. He revealed there many proposals to include new categories in health insurance, such as ‘housewives’, but they are still under study.

       Al-Rasheed pointed out that the Afia insurance covers many diseases, surgeries and treatments, noting that the maximum limit for the insurance package is 15,500 dinars, distributed over 10,000 dinars for treatment inside hospitals, including surgeries and others, as well as the allocation of 4,000 dinars for treatment outside hospitals, which is ‘Medical clinics and specialized centers’, in addition to allocating 1,500 dinars for dental treatment.
