KELANTAN’S former Paralympic athlete Rahim Yusoff, who was born without arms, has been driving himself using his feet for the past 20 years, including to his sewing shop in Pulai Chondong, Berita Harian reported.

Yusoff, 55, also known as Pok Su Mie, drove 400km to Kuala Lumpur last November to attend a skills course organised by the National Athlete Welfare Foundation at the National Sports Complex in Bukit Kiara.

“At that time, I was with my wife and son, and our journey went smoothly,” he said, adding that he has never been in an accident since he started driving.

Pok Su Mie said he never treated his disability as an excuse to gain sympathy. Instead, he wants to remain independent and change society’s negative perception of the disabled.

“I believe that many more disabled people out there have extraordinary abilities. The most important thing is the spirit of wanting to work because as long as we can do it ourselves, disability is not an excuse,” he said.

       > After being infected with Covid-19 last December, actor Rashidi Ishak, 48, said he now has obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Kosmo! reported.

“I’m more OCD now. I always bring along my disinfectant and want to clean my hands all the time.

“The effects of the incident have also made me refuse to associate with anyone during filming. After filming, I get in the car and stay away from people,” he added.

Rashidi was confirmed positive on Dec 7 last year during the filming of Tetuan Ang & Rahimin.

On Instagram, he shared that his condition at that time was very poor because he experienced symptoms such as fever, cough, diarrhoea and vomiting on the fourth day of quarantine.

He also updated his condition after two months.

“After recovering, I now feel tired easily. There was a scene in court that took hours to shoot.”

Many celebrities have fallen victim to Covid-19, including Intan Ladyana, Nabila Razali, Ariff Bahran and Afdlin Shauki.
