KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is the latest politician to test positive for Covid-19.
The Port Dickson MP was confirmed positive following an RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction) test conducted in Parliament on Monday (March 21), said his private secretary Shukri Saad.
"Datuk Seri Anwar will self-quarantine for seven days as required under Health Ministry protocols," he said in a statement.
Earlier on Monday, Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang also tested positive using both PCR and RTK-antigen tests in Parliament.
His political secretary Syahredzan Johan said the Iskandar Puteri MP is under quarantine.
There are concerns about further infections with several pictures making their rounds on social media, showing the DAP stalwart hugging DAP MPs such as his son and Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng and Seremban MP Anthony Loke during the party national congress on Sunday (March 20).
Marang MP and PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang also tested positive on Sunday (March 20) evening.
