Police said the shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. in the 3900 block of South Capitol Street SE, near the border with Congress Heights.

Police said Castle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Monday’s shooting occurred one week after Omar Moore, 34, of Hyattsville was fatally shot one block away on Aug. 16 in the 3800 block of South Capitol Street SE.

Police have not said whether the two shootings might be related.

There have now been 131 homicides in the District this year, a 10 percent increase over this time in 2020.
