KOTA KINABALU: Petronas donated 190 sets of cooking gas cylinders and stoves to victims of the recent floods in Sabah's northern Pitas under its Sentuhan Kasih Disaster Relief Programme.
The contributions were delivered to the Pitas disaster operations control centre where Pitas assistant district officer Johari Abdullah distributed it to some of the recipients on Friday (March 4).
The distribution to the rest of the recipients will be coordinated by the District Welfare Department, assisted by members of the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), People's Volunteer Corp (Rela), and Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM).
Head of Petronas Sabah and Labuan, Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab, said Petronas as well as its CSR arm - Yayasan Petronas - have been supporting flood relief efforts through the Sentuhan Kasih Disaster Relief Programme in collaboration with various departments and agencies.
"It is our hope that these contributions will help ease some of the burdens borne by those affected by the floods," she said in a statement on Friday.
This is Petronas’ latest contribution to flood victims in Pitas. They had earlier delivered 1,000 relief packages containing food items, hygiene kits and blankets last month.
Petronas has also distributed 600 aid packages to flood victims in the district and neighbouring Kota Marudu in January.
