JOHOR BARU: At least two Johor Umno Youth divisions have lodged police reports about a social media post that allegedly insults His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

       State Umno Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros (pic) said that all 26 divisions of the party’s youth wing had been told to file reports against the man behind the social media post.

       “So far, the Parit Sulong and Pasir Gudang divisions have lodged police reports, while the Pagoh division is expected to do so this evening. Other divisions will follow suit in the next one to two days,” he said.

       Pasir Gudang Umno division chief Matyasir Ahmad Basir held a press conference at the Seri Alam police headquarters after filing the report on Sunday (April 14) morning.

       “This police report was made so that the authorities can take the necessary actions as we do not want such an issue to continue,” he told reporters.

       Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah confirmed that the police had received the report from the Parit Sulong division, while Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed they received the report from the Pasir Gudang division.

       In the post, which has since been deleted, PAS Selangor Youth media director Hezry Yasin purportedly said that he had lowered his hands during Friday prayers in Johor when prayers were directed towards the King.

       In response to criticism, Hezry later apologised on Facebook, saying he did not intend to insult the royal institution.

       “I was honestly a bit speechless. I am sorry for my mistake. My writings were just my personal opinion. I have no intention of insulting the royal institution,” he said in the post on Sunday.
