SERDANG: Universiti Putra Malaysia's (UPM) latest strategic plan will see the university continue striving to produce holistic graduates, as well as research that benefits society.

Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad (pic) said the UPM 2021-2025 Strategic Plan had five main objectives: creating resilient graduates; becoming a sustainable research and innovation hub; forming a sustainable network with industries and society; enhancing agriculture and food security; and enhancing institutional management, finances and culture.

"These objectives clearly show UPM's aims to become a leading university," he said when launching the strategic plan on Friday (Dec 3).

He said the plan would also build on UPM's agriculture agenda, especially utilising high technology.

He added that this would enable it to play a bigger part in ensuring the country's food security.

UPM vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman said the strategic plan reinforces the university's commitment to be competitive both locally and internationally.

He said the launch also coincides with the research university's 50th anniversary.
