IPOH: A 72-year-old man has been remanded for seven days to help with investigations into the murder of his 74-year-old wife on Monday (Aug 9).
Kampar OCPD Superintendent Hasron Nazri Hashim said police obtained the remand order on Tuesday (Aug 10) and added that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Supt Hasron said they had yet to determine the motive for the incident.
"The man does not have a criminal record. We are still investigating the matter," he said in a statement, adding that a urine test was conducted on the suspect.
During the incident on Monday the man allegedly murdered his wife, who was paralysed from the waist down after suffering a stroke, at their home in Taman Desa Cahaya.
The man had informed his next of kin about the death of the woman, whose neck had been slit. A knife was found next to her.
