KAMPAR: The police will investigate a bullying incident where a boy was seen in several viral video clips taking punches from his peers.
The incident is believed to have occured at a boarding school in Perak.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the police would first need to determine and confirm the location and time of the incident.
"I've seen a few comments claiming that the videos were taken at a boarding school in Kuala Kangsar.
"We also need to confirm the location of the school first," he told reporters after witnessing the duty handover ceremony between outgoing Kampar OCPD Superintendent Hasron Nazri Hashim and his successor Supt Mohd Nazri Daud at Kampar district police station here on Friday (Dec 10).
"We also need to know if the video clips are new or old," he added.
In a series of tweets uploaded by a twitter user using the handle @Ekax_, at least eight male students were seen taking turns to punch a boy.
@Ekax_ also included the photographs of the alleged bullies.
Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the police would consider tasking its school liaison officers to make more ground visits.
"While we do have officers assigned to visit schools from time to time, we might consider having more visits in the future.
"During these visits, our officers will meet and talk with the schools' principals, teachers and students," he said.
"Looking at the videos, we might have more frequent visits to avoid similar incidents," he added.
On a separate matter, Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the police would recommend to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) to issue a compound notice to the family who held a funeral procession that involved a helicopter and horses.
"Based on our investigations, we found that the family did not have any permission from the police or the Ipoh City Council to conduct the procession.
"We will make a suggestion to the AGC to issue a compound notice," he said.
Video clips of the procession, which showed a helicopter flying near shophouses and scattering flower petals and believed to have occurred on Nov 27, had gone viral on social media.
