PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says the Perikatan Nasional government will seek bipartisan support following the current political uncertainties.
He said the government needed the support of the Opposition parties during the motion of confidence in Parliament in efforts to bring the country out of this crisis.
“If the government gets bipartisan support, by two thirds, the term of PM will be limited and anti-party hopping laws will be passed.
“There will be parliamentary reforms and 50% will be Opposition members in the special select committees.
“Undi 18 will be passed immediately and will be tabled in the next session and passed with bipartisan votes.
“All supply Bills will only be tabled if they have majority support of the MPs.
“Opposition head will be given all perks akin to a senior minister’s rank,” said Muhyiddin in a televised live address on Friday (Aug 13).
He said that he will further top up the RM300mil given to all MPs as pandemic assistance for their constituents, as well as increase the Covid-19 Fund to RM110bil.
The government will also dish out a further RM10mil for all those whose incomes were lost during the pandemic, with more funds to help businesses.
