SEGAMAT: A senior citizen has been found drowned after he fell into a fish pond in a rubber plantation on Tuesday (March 1) morning.
Bandar Baru Segamat Fire and Rescue station chief Marzuki Ismail said they received an emergency call about the incident at Jalan Kelompang, Kampung Kenawar, Pogoh near here shortly before 11am.
"Eleven firemen and one Fire Rescue Tender vehicle, an Emergency Medical Response Services vehicle and a utility vehicle were deployed to the scene," he said in a statement.
Marzuki said the 73-year old victim, identified as Liaw Guan @ Liew Kuan Yik, was believed to have fallen into the pond.
"Investigation found that it was a daily routine of the deceased to feed the fish in the pond at his rubber plantation," Marzuki said.
He added that the victim was pronounced dead by paramedics from the Health Ministry at the scene.
The body was handed over to the police for further action.
The operation ended at 11.53am.
