A 30-year-old man is accused of being the driver in an August hit-and-run in the Lakeview neighborhood that killed one woman and injured a second pedestrian, Chicago police said.

       Brett Dimick was arrested Monday and charged with reckless homicide and failure to report an accident resulting in a death, according to police.

       About 1 p.m. Aug. 14, the driver of a BMW X3 hit another vehicle in the 800 block of West Addison Street, then hit two pedestrians in the 3500 block of North Fremont Street, police have said. The driver failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the pedestrians in a crosswalk.

       The driver then drove on the sidewalk on Fremont, collided with an iron fence and fled on foot along with a passenger, police said.

       Sophie Allen, 27, of Orlando, Florida, was struck and killed. The other person had minor injuries, according to police.

       Dimick is due in court Tuesday for a bond hearing.
