JOHOR BARU: A total of 9,775 police personnel and their spouses had cast their votes as early voters for the Johor state election on Tuesday (March 8).
Johor police state election media spokesman Supt Ibrahim Mat Som said they represented 84.3% of early voters who had cast their ballots.
There were 63 early polling centres statewide for early voters that opened from 8am to 5pm.
"There are several reasons why the voter turnout did not reach 100% for the 15th Johor state election," he said in a statement.
Supt Ibrahim said these include voters being quarantined after testing positive for Covid-19, changed place of duty to another police contingent in other states, retirement, death and unforeseen circumstances.
He said a total of 11,576 police personnel and their spouses had registered to vote as early voters.
The Election Commission has set March 12, as polling day.
