A 56-year-old man was arrested Oct. 26 by Aichi Prefectural Police for allegedly selling business cards that he made to look like those of senior members of the Yamaguchi-gumi crime syndicate.
Yukihiko Hasui, of the Kagawa Prefecture town of Miki, is specifically accused of selling the fake business cards via his website to two people, including a 62-year-old office worker in Aichi Prefecture, for a total of 13,600 yen (roughly $120) in May 2020. He had said the items were "real" and that he "got them by chance."
Hasui has reportedly denied the allegations, telling police he "did not intend to deceive" the individuals.

According to the prefectural police, the business cards were elaborately designed to look like those of top executives of the Yamaguchi-gumi yakuza group, and made using Japanese "washi" paper.
Police searched a site affiliated with Hasui in August and seized more than 19,000 business cards, 1,600 badges with crests, 200 bracelets and 70 teacups, among other items. Most of them seemed to be fakes made by Hasui. He had reportedly sold about 1.13 million yen (around $9,910) in merchandise in June and about 1.18 million yen (approx. $10,350) in July. The prefectural police are investigating the transactions.
