IPOH: Industries and other sectors may utilise the Human Resources Ministry’s database as a source for recruitment, says Datuk Lim Ban Hong.
The Deputy Minister for International Trade and Industry said the Human Resource Ministry had a database of unemployed individuals, and the relevant industries could look through it.
“I understand that many industries are lacking the right human resources, especially those that have received plenty of orders for their products and require manpower to increase production.
“I would propose they look at the database from the Human Resources Ministry.
“The database will allow private companies to get workers,” he said after visiting the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PCCCI) headquarters here with Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon yesterday.
Lim urged local industries, especially those in manufacturing, to turn to automation or Industrial Revolution 4.0 to lessen their need for workers, including foreigners.
“It will also help to improve their production lines.
“The relevant sectors need to have their own plans for automation and IR4.0,” he said, adding that the Human Resources Ministry had also prepared upskilling and reskilling programmes so that those who were unemployed could improve themselves and get hired in different sectors.
Lim said he would also arrange a meeting between PCCCI and the Human Resources Ministry to exchange views.
“PCCCI members can hear of the action plans being drawn up and implemented by the ministry.
“At the same time, they can also give their views to the Human Resources Ministry,” he added.
During the visit, Lim shared with PCCCI members the various initiatives by the government to help industry players enhance their businesses.
Also present during the visit were PCCCI president Datuk Liew Chee Meng and Wanita MCA national chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie.
