ISKANDAR PUTERI: A pillion rider died on the spot after he was involved in an accident at Nusajaya Highway near here.

       Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the incident happened on Tuesday (March 8) at around 2.45pm.

       He said the victim in his 30s, and the motorcyclist in his 20s, were travelling from Tanjung Kupang heading towards Gelang Patah.

       "Initial investigations showed the motorcycle had rammed into the rear of the car which had stopped in the emergency lane," ACP Dzulkhairi said in a statement.

       He said the driver of the car was making a phone call at the time of the incident.

       ACP Dzulkhairi said the motorcyclist suffered head, body and right arm injuries and the pillion rider was pronounced dead by the paramedic team who was at the scene.

       He said the body of the victim was sent to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai for post-mortem.

       The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
