KOTA KINABALU: Qatar has expressed interest in exploring investment opportunities as well as potential areas of cooperation in Sabah, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The Sabah Chief Minister said that this was conveyed to him by the Ambassador of Qatar to Malaysia, His Excellency Fahad Mohammed Kafoud during a courtesy call in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (April 19).
Hajiji said that the Middle-Eastern country's investment interests included the sectors of oil and gas (O&G), agriculture and tourism.
"Towards this end, the ambassador plans to organise a trade delegation to Sabah soon," said Hajiji in a statement issued after the meeting.
During the meeting, both parties discussed various current issues and also talked about what the state and Qatar could cooperate on.
