A YOUNG girl who died while attending party at a water park drowned in a designated swimming area, an inquest heard today.

       Kyra Hill, 11, got into difficulty while at Liquid Leisure Park in Datchet, Berkshire, last August.

       Senior coroner Heidi Connor told Kyra's family today a post-mortem gave the cause of her death as drowning.

       She offered her "utterly heartfelt condolences" at the youngster's death, which came just two weeks before her 12th birthday.

       The coroner told Kyra's family "we must stand back and allow other investigations to be carried out first".

       The hearing at Berkshire Coroner's Court was attended by Kyra's dad, Leonard Hill, and mum, Heather Parker.

       They were told they will be able to share more about Kyra's life outside the "very difficult, traumatic evidence" when a full inquest is held in the future.

       Ms Connor adjourned proceedings while a police probe is carried out.

       Emergency crews were rushed to the park just before 4pm on August 6 last year.

       Kyra was found in the swimming area an hour and 15 minutes later.

       She was rushed to hospital but sadly couldn't be saved and was declared dead shortly after.

       The waterpark was closed for several weeks following the tragedy but was given the green light to reopen for certain activities last October.

       Kyra's dad previously likened footage of the tragedy to a "horror movie".

       He said: "I've replayed the CCTV in my mind every day, every night. It's like watching a horror movie. I replay my child on a hospital bed every day, every night.

       "I replay my child in the morgue, and touching her cold freezing stiff body with fluids leaking from her nose, every day and every night."
