Kate, Duchess of Cambridge has been married to Prince William since 2011, and the couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary this year. But the Duchess of Cambridge was a fixture in public life well before then, having dated the prince since they went to university together in Scotland.

       The future Queen, unlike her husband, lived a relatively normal life outside of royalty before she joined the firm officially in 2011.

       After graduating from St Andrew’s University in Fife, Scotland, where she met her future husband, Kate took up a job as an accessory buyer for retailer Jigsaw.

       She moved to London, eventually changing jobs to work for her parents event planning company.

       Kate moved with her sister Pippa to a flat owned by her parents in Old Church Street, London, where she lived a life of relative normality outside of her relationship with Prince William.

       She was frequently seen out with her sister and friends at London nightclubs and restaurants, having become something of a fixation for magazines and newspapers.

       Kate attended some public events with William at the time, for example being seen with him and Prince Harry at the 2007 Princess Diana memorial concert.

       Eventually the couple split for a number of years beginning in 2007, before reuniting in 2010, when Prince William finally proposed with the same ring Princess Diana was given by Prince Charles.

       Now, the couple have three children together and Kate has proved to be one of the most popular members of the family.
