Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, is widely predicted to become the next President of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club after her recent appearance at Wimbledon. Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, currently holds the position but is stepping down after 52 years of service, allowing Kate to take the reins.

Royal expert Robert Jobson told Sunrise: "It's there with the Duke of Kent stepping down from Wimbledon, it looks like Kate is going to get that role as President of the All England club.

"I think it's something that's been on the cards for some time.

"She loves tennis, she'll be a great new face for the sport."

Since marrying Prince William in 2011, the Duchess of Cambridge has regularly attended the annual Wimbledon Championships.

She is also a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club after taking over the Queen's role in 2016.

For the 2021 tournament, she was spotted with the Duke of Kent in the Royal Box and helped the 85-year-old distribute the awards.

Following her appearance on July 2, she was notified of a potential COVID-19 risk after coming into contact with someone who had tested positive.

After visiting the kitchens and Centre Court museum, she immediately returned to Kensington Palace to self-isolate.

She then returned to the courts on Saturday with her husband Prince William following a negative Covid test result.

Both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are double vaccinated and are tested twice a week.

On Saturday, she presented the Women's Singles Finals trophy to winner Ash Barty from Australia and the runner-up award to Karolina Pliskova.

Kate returned to Wimbledon on Sunday to watch the Men's Singles Finals along with her father, Michael Middleton.

Following her appearance, she tweeted: "It was amazing to see the atmosphere and support from the fans echoing through centre court once again."

The current President, the Queen's cousin the Duke of Kent, has been in the role for 52 years but recently announced that he would be stepping away from the position.

As an avid fan of tennis, the role is predicted to go to the Duchess of Cambridge.

Kate also appeared at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening, to support the England national football team in the Euro Championship finals, where they were defeated by Italy following a penalty shoot-out.
