KUCHING: Nearly all the 3,200 new Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak on Tuesday (Sept 7) have mild to no symptoms.

The state disaster management committee said cases in Categories One (asymptomatic) and Category Two (mild symptoms) accounted for 99.75% of all cases.

"There were eight cases in Category Five (symptomatic and requiring ventilator)," it said in a statement.

The committee also said seven deaths were reported in the state including four cases of brought-in-dead (BID).

It said one of the BID cases was a disabled 36-year-old woman with no known medical history.

"The 3,200 new cases and seven deaths take the state's cumulative tally to 137,812 cases and 583 deaths," added the committee.

Of the new cases, Kuching had the highest with 805, followed by Serian (630), Sibu (271) and Bintulu (211).

Another four districts had over 100 cases each while 29 districts reported between one and 94 cases each.

The committee also said five new community clusters were detected in Kampung Pinang Jawa in Kuching as well as longhouses in Sebauh, Tatau, Pakan and Subis.

There are currently 144 active clusters in the state.
