PETALING JAYA: A total of 399 cases or 2.1% out of the 19,268 new Covid-19 cases reported on Monday (Aug 30) were in Category 3, 4 and 5, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said the remaining 18,869 cases or 97.9% were in Category 1 and 2.
Cumulatively, 14,664 cases or 76.1% of the total cases were of those who have not been vaccinated or yet to be fully vaccinated.
Dr Noor Hisham said 1,033 patients were in the intensive care unit with 476 of them requiring respiratory support.
He said of the 295 new fatalities, 261 were locals and 34 foreigners while 53 of them were brought-in-dead cases.
There were 36 new clusters detected with 17 of them involved workplaces, 14 linked to communities, two high-risk groups, two education premises and one detention centre.
The latest data by the Health Ministry showed the Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 1.01, with Sarawak having the highest at 1.24, followed by Perlis (1.20) and Sabah (1.14).
