PETALING JAYA: A total of 4,166 or 98.3% out of 4,239 Covid-19 cases recorded yesterday were Category One and Two, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health director-general added that the remaining 73 cases (1.7%) were in Category Three, Four and Five.

Category One and Two refer to asymptomatic and mild symptoms cases respectively.

Meanwhile, Category Three cases experience pneumonia while cases in Category Four patients have pneumonia and require oxygen.

Category Five patients are in a critical stage, requiring ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also said as of yesterday, 511 patients required treatment in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of which 418 cases were confirmed Covid-19 cases while the remaining were under investigation.

He said 261 required ventilator support.

Of these cases, 173 were confirmed Covid-19 cases while a further 88 were probable cases, he added

There were also 5,007 recoveries and the number of cumulative recoveries was at 2,527,052 or 96.3%.

Dr Noor Hisham also said the latest infectivity rate or R-nought (Rt) of the country was at 0.96, a slight dip from the day before.

However, nine states and territories recorded an Rt of 1.0 or higher with Labuan the most at 1.19.

It is followed by Kedah (1.05), Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya both at 1.02.

Sarawak recorded the lowest Rt at 0.77, the only state below 0.9 mark.

The Rt value refers to the number of people that a person who has the coronavirus will infect.
