The Queen and country bade a final farewell to the Duke of Edingburgh on Tuesday in a poignant memorial service at Westminster Abbey.

Held in the same venue as where Prince Philip and the Queen married in 1947, the event paid tribute to the Duke's role as the longest-serving Royal consort in British history and his unwavering support of the monarch.

The service gave thanks for the Duke's contribution to public life and steadfast support of over 700 charitable organisations, which he was associated with throughout his life.

The event was attended by a 1,800-strong congregation, which included the extended Royal family, politicians from across political divide, and over 500 representatives from his patrongages and charities.
