BATU PAHAT: Pakatan Harapan will only announce its mentri besar candidate once it secures enough seats in the Johor election, says Aminolhuda Hassan.
The Johor Pakatan chairman said the coalition had yet to discuss the matter.
“This is because there are other important matters, including on how to secure a win,” he said during a press conference at the launch of Pakatan’s manifesto on Friday (March 4).
“Although we are confident that we can win, who to name as the (mentri besar) candidate will be discussed at a suitable time later,” he said.
On March 2, Opposition leader and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that Pakatan would make the announcement soon.
Several names have been touted as the coalition’s potential mentri besar candidate, including Simpang Renggam MP Dr Maszlee Malik, who is contesting in a four-way contest for the Layang-Layang state seat.
Johor will go to the polls on March 12.
