KOTA KINABALU: A submission to register Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as an official political coalition has been sent to the Registrar of Societies (ROS), says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sabah deputy chief said the application was sent in about two weeks ago.
“The ROS is still asking for more details and information as well as documents,” he said, Thursday (March 10).
Masidi said he hoped these matters could be finalised soon so that GRS can be registered officially as soon as possible.
He however said that there was no point in making a big fuss or announcing every detail of the process to get GRS registered because it would not matter until GRS has been finally registered.
He said it was better for GRS and its members to continue to work and carry out their duties and let results speak for themselves.
GRS is made up of Sabah Barisan Nasional (Sabah Umno, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah PBRS, MCA and MIC), Sabah Perikatan (Bersatu Sabah, Sabah STAR, Sabah Progressive Party SAPP, Sabah PAS, and Gerakan) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).
On other matters, asked about former Warisan vice-president Datuk Peter Anthony’s wish to join GRS via his new party Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), Masidi said everyone can form a new party in this democratic nation but did not elaborate further on the matter.
Previously on Tuesday (March 8), it was reported that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was scheduled to launch Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat on Sunday (March 12).
KDM deputy president Datuk Juil Nuatim said Hajiji, who is also the state's ruling coalition Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman, has consented to launch the party at Sabah International Convention Centre here.
