IPOH: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd has suggested that there be a Vaccinated Travel Lane from Ipoh to Singapore, says Perak tourism committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashiling Mohamed Radzi.
“Unlike Penang, we have yet to have a VTL connecting Ipoh and Singapore.
“We are waiting for the Federal Government to approve the suggestion,” she told reporters at the Perak Culture and Arts Department yesterday.
On March 8, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that Malaysia would reopen its border to international travellers on April 1.
He also said that Malaysians could use the VTL for countries that had yet to open their borders such as Singapore.
Nolee said the state would continue to prioritise tourists’ safety following the reopening of borders.
“While we transition to the endemic stage, we believe there may be tourists who will wait for the cases to drop before coming to Perak,” she said.
