       A 38-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday morning in Southeast Washington, D.C. police said.

       James Deale, of Northeast Washington, died at the scene, police said.

       The shooting occurred at about 3 a.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of Stanton Road, near the District’s border with Prince George’s County, District police said. Officers found Deale with several gunshot injuries, police said.

       By Saturday afternoon, police had not made an arrest in the shooting. No further information was immediately available. Efforts to reach his family were unsuccessful.

       Latest police data shows 235 people have been killed so far this year in Washington, a 32 percent increase compared with the same period last year.
