PETALING JAYA: The Selangor police headquarters is looking into a death-in-custody case that occurred at the Kuala Langat district police headquarters.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said that he had instructed the district CID head to open an enquiry paper on a report that had been lodged on the matter.
“I’ll be looking into three specific elements: duty of care, foul play and SOP compliance,” he said when contacted on Thursday (Sept 16).
Earlier on Thursday, Free Malaysia Today news portal reported that Navaneetham Nagappan, wife of lorry driver Vinaiyagar K. Thinpathy, had alleged that the body of her husband had bruises after he died at Kuala Langat police headquarters following his arrest on Sept 8.
The husband had died on Monday, Sept 13, and a post-mortem showed that the cause of death was due to a burst ulcer in his stomach.
Navaneetham insisted that her husband had no prior illness before his arrest, and alleged that she saw bruises and swelling on his mouth, back and stomach.
