PETALING JAYA: A total of 22,934,377 people in the country have been fully vaccinated with some 30,756 having received their booster shots.

       At present, a total of 22.7% of the population, including adolescents between 12 and 17, remain unvaccinated.

       "77.3% have received at least one dose while 70.2% are fully vaccinated," the government said through the Health Ministry's official CovidNow portal on Tuesday (Oct 19).

       The Ministry also stated that a total of 2,278,955 people have recovered from Covid-19 with 8,435 recoveries recorded as of Oct 18.

       "So far, there have been 27,993 deaths with 72 recorded on Monday (Oct 18). There has been a total of 5,65 brought in dead with nine cases reported on Oct 18," the Ministry added.

       It also said that there were still 89,173 active cases, which is a decrease of 3,073 cases.

       On the use of hospital beds and equipment, the Ministry said that intensive care unit utilisation was at 61.5% while ventilator usage was at 40.3% and added that total hospital bed usage was at 66.8% currently.

       A total of 6,947 individuals are currently warded at hospitals for treatment and of this, 332 required unventilated treatment at the ICU while 374 required breathing support.

       The Ministry also stated that a total of 68,612 individuals are undergoing home quarantine while 12,935 were quarantined at quarantine centres.
