KLANG: A worker at a casket company was forced to cut off his pinky to prove his innocence in the murder of his own girlfriend.
Police are now looking for a 49-year-old man who had assaulted the victim, and accused the victim of killing the girl in November last year.
South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said they found a seven-minute-long video on Facebook showing the suspect forcing the victim to cut off his own finger and beating him with a chain.
“Our investigations revealed the incidents occurred within the South Klang area.
“We received a report at around 1am on Monday from the 36-year-old victim who claimed he got into a heated argument with the suspect on Nov 13 last year, at his employer’s house in Taman Chi Liung here.
“The suspect slapped the victim and dared him to cut off his finger to prove he did not murder his girlfriend, who was also friends with the suspect,” he told reporters yesterday.
ACP Cha said to prove his innocence, the victim took a meat cleaver and cut off his small finger on his left hand before fainting.
“On Sunday at around 9.30 pm, the suspect who was still not satisfied, came to the same house and beat the victim’s back, head, left hand and legs with a chain.
“The suspect recorded both incidents on his mobile phone,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated as causing grievous hurt.
ACP Cha said investigations revealed the victim’s 35-year-old girlfriend was found dead on Nov 9 last year.
“The case was classified as sudden death.
“The victim worked with a casket company here and has known the suspect for some time,” he said.
ACP Cha said police believe the suspect had ties to a secret society and is believed to be in the country.
He said those with information on the whereabouts of the individual involved in the case should contact the police hotline at 03-3376 2222 or go to the nearest police station.
