D.C. police arrested two men Tuesday in separate fatal shootings in Southeast Washington.
Authorities charged Raheem Gafari, a 31-year-old from Southeast, with first-degree murder while armed in the death of Davon Sullivan. Sullivan, 24, was found dead in the 2300 block of Green Street, SE on May 4, police said.

Police did not detail a motive but said the two men had been in an argument. At the time of the killing, Gafari was under high intensity supervision after being accused of possessing oxycontin with intent to distribute it.
Sellano Simmons, Gafari’s attorney, said his client “looks to handle the matter not in public but in the court of law.”
D.C. police on Tuesday also arrested a Maryland man in the October 2021 slaying of 18-year-old Noel Prince Nicol in Southeast Washington. Jordan Jones, a 21-year-old from Silver Spring, Md., is charged with first-degree murder while armed.

At the time of the killing, Jones was on parole for an armed robbery conviction in Maryland. Police did not provide a motive for the shooting, other than to say Jones and Nicol had been in contact on Instagram.
Nicol was found dead Oct. 14 in the front seat of his car in the 2000 block of Savannah Place SE.
Jones’s attorney could not be immediately reached.
