KUALA LUMPUR: A public servant, believed to be working in a law enforcement agency, is being sought by police for allegedly assaulting a customer service officer.

The victim, a 34-year-old woman, was paid by the suspect to find him a love interest.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the incident occurred at around 10.30am on Tuesday (Nov 16).

"The 35-year-old suspect went to the victim’s office along Jalan 2 Chan Sow Lin, to meet her.

"While they were in the lift heading down, the suspect allegedly hit the woman's head multiple times," he said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 18).

He said the 34-year-old victim suffered bleeding to her head and received treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (HCTM).

"Investigations revealed the suspect had paid the victim RM2,500 to find him a match on a matrimony site but no match was found after six months.

"The suspect blamed the woman and reacted by attacking her in the lift," he said, adding that a video of the assault was circulated on social media.

He said police have identified the suspect.

"We want to remind the public to never take matters into their own hands and to always obey the law.

"We also advise the public not to spread videos which could cause public anxiousness," he said.

Those with information on the case are urged to contact the Cheras police headquarters at

013-216 5881, or the City police hotline at 03-2146 0584/03- 2146 0585 or the nearest police station.
