KUALA LUMPUR: The remand for the law enforcement officer, who was detained in connection with a robbery case involving losses of at least RM700,000, has been extended until Monday (Dec 20).
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the other suspect arrested has been released on police bail.
"The officer has been further remanded until Monday while the other man has been released on police bail.
"As of now, we have recorded the statements of 17 individuals," he said when contacted on Wednesday (Dec 15).
On Monday (Dec 13), police said that the officer and another man were arrested in connection with the case.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said on Sunday (Dec 12) that its officer has been detained by the police to assist in investigations into a gang robbery case on Dec 10 in Kuala Lumpur.
In a statement, MACC said it had given full cooperation to the police to track down the officer and handed him over to the enforcement agency on Saturday (Dec 11) afternoon.
MACC stressed that it would not compromise or protect any officer involved in any criminal conduct.
"Strict action including charges in court and disciplinary action with dismissal will be imposed if he was involved," said the statement.
