PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a lawyer for allegedly accepting bribes worth RM100,000.
It is learnt that the suspect, who is in his 50s, was arrested at a shopping mall at 4pm on Friday (May 13).
Sources said the lawyer is believed to have demanded RM4mil from a company owner.
"The money is meant as an inducement so the MACC will not investigate the company over a development project.
"The company owner had paid RM100,000 as initial payment," said a source.
MACC senior investigations director Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the arrest.
He said the suspect would be brought to the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court for remand.
