Heavy rains caused several landslides in the southern Indian state of Kerala, killing at least 116 people, and rescue efforts were underway to help those feared trapped, authorities said.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that 116 bodies had been recovered. At least 176 people were also injured in the floods, which hit the Wayanad district of Kerala on Tuesday at the height of monsoon season, according to the office of District Magistrate Meghashree D.R.
