Fancy restaurant blasted for charging £37 for sausage and mash dish

Langan's Brasserie, which is in plush Mayfair in central London, has created a unique twist on the British classic by serving it with onion jam and Perigord Sauce - made from expensive black truffles and truffle oil. However, its hefty price tag - £37 - has been criticised.

Pierre Koffmann, a rival chef who was awarded three Michelin stars at his restaurant La Tante Claire in nearby Chelsea, London, said: "The prices may give you indigestion.

"I’d be interested to meet the accountant who thought that £37 for bangers and a mask was a bright idea."

A whole-roasted chicken for two diners even costs £105 at Langan's Brasserie and, My London says, is served with baby potatoes, pearl onions and bacon.

Fresh macaroni pasta with wild mushrooms, parsley and garlic costs a staggering £33

Langan's, though, defended its take on bangers and mash.

It said: "The sausages are made with rare-breed pork, stuffed with a slice of fresh Foie Gras and wrapped in Caul fat."

The restaurant doesn't actually say what meat the sausages are made of but the label says that they are of "the highest quality".

The establishment opened under new ownership and as well as their expensive prices they have banned tracksuits and trainers in a bid to attract more customers, reports The Sun.

The restaurant has been approached for comment.
