D.C. police said a man died Wednesday after being shot in the leg in Southeast Washington.

       The incident happened around 9 p.m. in the 2300 block of Good Hope Road SE near Naylor Road SE, according to authorities. Police responded for a report of an unconscious person, and when they arrived they found the man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

       He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

       Police identified him as Harold James, 66, but said they did not know where he lived.

       The case remains under investigation.
