SIBU: Some 10,000 chickens from a farm in Jalan Bau-Kuching perished in an early morning fire on Wednesday (Jan 12).

       The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Service Department said firemen from the Bau station, led by Tawang Lingem, rushed to the scene of the fire at about 3.40am.

       However, when they arrived at the scene, the fire had almost destroyed the chicken farm where about 10,000 chickens were kept.

       “The team could not do much except to stop the flames. The fire was brought under control about an hour later,” it said.

       The department said the farm owner claimed all of the chickens on the farm perished in the fire
