IPOH: The police are ready for any possibility, says Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim.
"The public is urged not to worry and continue with their daily activities," said Mazlan.
Responding to a question on a South China Morning Post report about a secret meeting of 19 mayors in Sulu to discuss the recruitment of 600 militia members as plans to set up a "Royal Army" to invade Sabah, Mazlan said that no invasion was planned.
He said that the police received information about the meeting, and added that it was about economic matters and local security.
"From the information we received, no invasion is going to take place," he told reporters after visiting the Perak police contingent headquarters here on Wednesday (Dec 15).
The meeting was allegedly held with a senior political figure in Sulu who ordered each mayor to carry out the recruitment.
On another matter, Mazlan said school heads must work closely with police school liaison officers.
He said any information must be channelled to these officers as soon as possible for the well-being of the school.
"There is one officer at each school, and sometimes we allocate two officers in bigger schools," said Mazlan
"So it is always good that the school heads constantly communicate with such officers, so that if there was an incident, the police would be able to respond fast, give feedback, and act efficiently," he said.
Mazlan said this in response to cases of bullying reported in schools and hostels.
