PETALING JAYA: PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says the party will not compromise with anyone who insulted Allah and His Messenger and will leave such a case to the authorities for further actions.

       He also added that the matter was not related to racial issues, rather that the issue revolved around the insult against one’s God.

       “The socks issue and any form of insults to Allah and Rasul was not a racial issue. It has nothing to do with race, don’t let there be anyone who links it to racial issues.

       “Even though KK Super Mart is a Chinese-owned company, we are against it not due to the race. Regardless of the religion and race, this issue should be curbed and (perpetrators) should be punished, even if they are Malay Muslims,” he said in a statement on Friday (April 5).

       Meanwhile, PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden has expressed solidarity with his Umno counterpart Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh over the latter’s arrest in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah earlier today.

       “(I am) disappointed with the arrest of my friend, Dr Muhamad Akmal, Umno Youth chief under the Sedition Act, just because he was vocal about the issue of socks bearing the word Allah.

       “Ironically, why were other individuals from the government bloc – who previously insulted Islam – not investigated and arrested under the same Act?

       He also urged that similar actions be taken against any individuals who have stirred issues of 3R (race, religion and royalty).

       Earlier today, Dr Muhamad Akmal was arrested by Kota Kinabalu police, despite being scheduled to give his statement at the Dang Wangi police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (April 6).

       He has since been released after giving a statement at the police headquarters in Kota Kinabalu.
