A 58-year-old Joliet man has been accused of stealing an ambulance from Amita St. Joseph Medical Center early Thursday, Joliet Police Department said in a news release.
Henry McCall was transported to Will County Adult Detention Facility on Thursday after being charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding, obstructing a peace officer, and driving with a suspended license.
A video showing the pursuit of the ambulance was posted to Facebook by the Joliet Police Department.

About 1 a.m. Thursday officers pursued McCall as he drove the vehicle from the ambulance bay to West Jefferson Street at Barney Drive, police said. Officers attempted to pull him over, but McCall refused to stop, according to the news release.
Police said he then crashed into a vehicle that was not involved in the chase while westbound on Jefferson. The ambulance rolled over the guardrail on the North Side of the roadway, and crashed into a ditch near Interstate 55, the police report said. McCall escaped on foot, but was caught shortly after.
It is currently unclear why McCall stole the vehicle.
McCall and the driver of the uninvolved vehicle were transported to Amita St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. McCall was then transferred to the detention center.
