KUALA LUMPUR: The issue of female Muslim hotel workers forced to don short skirts was raised by a PAS MP in Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Nov 30).

       Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN-Kuala Krai) also raised the issue of Muslim employees at convenience stores who are required to sell alcohol beverages to customers.

       "There have been complaints by female Muslim employees working in hotels who are not allowed to wear the tudung and made to wear short skirts.

       "This is not fitting for a Muslim woman," he said when debating Budget 2022 in Dewan Rakyat.

       Earlier, Abdul Latif asked if the Human Resources Ministry also had a policy on Muslim employees working at convenience stores who are required to sell alcohol beverages to customers.

       "It is clear that they are pressured to do so and this does not respect their rights as Muslims.

       "There is clear (divine) punishment for this.

       "This is because they will fall within the 10 categories of those related to alcohol that will face God's punishment," he said.

       He urged the ministry to give serious attention to these issues.

       There had been previous calls by PAS MPs for Malaysian Airlines to change the uniforms worn by air stewardesses as the present one was too "sexy".
