A PUPIL from SJK(T) Ladang Ayer Tawar has been selected to represent Perak in a national-level chess competition, Makkal Osai reported.
Tharvin Sivashanmugam, who took part in the under-12 category, showed skill and composure to excel in the district- and state-level competitions.
He was one of the four representatives selected from the state-level competition which featured all schools from Perak.
> The land owner of a Hindu temple in Gemencheh, Negri Sembilan, has donated a one acre plot to the place of worship as he intends to develop the land the temple is located on, Makkal Osai reported.
After discussions with state authorities, the owner agreed to provide an alternative plot to the temple for free.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held last week at the new location.
The temple committee was also advised to try and acquire an adjacent piece of land, which is on sale by the owner at a low price, to build a multipurpose hall for the temple.
